Home described as ‘worst’ property one Perth real estate agent has ever presented goes up for sale

‘Why is this even on the market?’

It is “probably the worst-presented” home one real estate agent has put to sale in the last year, but that has done little to ward off buyers hoping to crack into the Perth housing market at an affordable price.

The four bedroom, two bathroom property at 19 Ryland Road, Kelmscott, in the city’s southeast, was abandoned in a state of clutter after the current owners “just up and left”.

Strewn throughout the 178sqm of internal living space is a “treasure trove of the old owner’s furniture” and “plenty of skip bins full of stuff” that needs to be hauled out.

But there are a few potentially salvageable goods too, including a TV, pool table, exercise bike, gym equipment and computer monitors — and all come with the home.

Outside, the “yard resembles a wild jungle” with an old patio, barbecue and trailer.

O’Neil Real Estate residential sales consultant Ash Swarts said, truthfully, “it’s probably the worst-presented home” he has put to market in the last year.

“Just have a look at this — I mean, does it get any crazier? Why is this even on the market? The current owners just up and left,” he said in a video with the online listing.

“Everything you see here is included in the sale so you better be prepared to get your hands dirty because you’re definitely going to be getting them dirty here.”

The home, built in 1977 on a 691sqm block, is being sold “as is”, and its unkempt state has done little to diminish interest.

Offers above $489,000 are being considered and 12 are already on the table following a home open on Wednesday.

Swarts said there had been a really good mix of potential buyers, including homeowners “looking to secure something at a lower price point”.

The median dwelling price in Perth sits just under $700,000.

Swarts told 7NEWS.com.au he went with an honest approach because there was no hiding the work that needs to be done.

Any other approach and “they’ll call your bluff”.

Despite the job at hand, plenty of costly repairs have recently been made, and the house is functional. An independent building report has also been carried out and is available.

“There’s no warranty on anything, not even the light bulbs, so bring your toolkit and a can-do attitude,” Swarts said.

“This house is perfect for DIY enthusiasts, brave souls, or those with a very creative imagination.

“It’s not just a house, it’s an experience waiting to be transformed into your dream home.”

A second viewing will be held on Saturday morning.
