Group of Taiwanese nationals bashed in suspected racially motivated attack in Brisbane

‘They started yelling at us, calling us names, throwing rocks at us.’

An attack on four Taiwanese nationals allegedly by a group of teens in Brisbane is believed to have been racially motivated.

The incident at South Bank on Monday night was covered by Taiwanese media after footage was shared by one of the victims.

“We got beaten up just because we are Asians,” the woman posted to Instagram.

The two men and two women — aged in their early 20s — were walking near Queensland Museum when they claim the group of teens — including two boys and two girls — set upon them.

“They started yelling at us, calling us names, throwing rocks at us,” one of the victims, who did not want to be identified, told 7NEWS.

She claims the teens called them expletive-laden racial slurs, before physically attacking.

“One of my friends got hit in the nose. Another one was hit in the eye,” she said.

“He couldn’t open his eye when the fight was over. His glasses were broken.

“One of the girls pushed my female friend on the ground.

“We picked my friend up and I just got beaten on the head.”

No weapons were used.

“Investigations into the incident are continuing and anyone with information is urged to contact police,” police said in a statement to 7NEWS.
