A man has been critically injured after becoming trapped between a scissor lift and a fence outside a school South of Brisbane.

Paramedics treated the man, aged in his 60s, for life-threatening injuries to his abdomen, chest and head outside a business on Torch St in Ipswich about 7.10am on Thursday.

The man was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

It is believed the incident took place near Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School.

A scissor lift is a platform with crisscrossed beams designed to move up and down in a scissor-like way, commonly used for interior work, maintenance projects and sign hanging.
