The TV host spills on what makes this the ‘sexiest season ever’ as she shares major changes to a hit format.

The year 2023 marks the sexiest season yet for the Big Brother house!

Ahead of its highly anticipated release Monday night, host Sonia Kruger has spilled all the gossip and what fans can expect from this brand-new format.

Gone is all the strategic alliance building and in its place is ... well strategy, but strategy of a different kind: How to start a relationship with one of the other “sexy singles”.

Having a front-row seat to all the spicy action is Sonia, who, unlike the last few years when she was watching on a monitor, is now back in the house for all evictions and formalities.

“Previously I’d do it through a screen and it was really hard for me because I couldn’t see the whole eviction room all the time and I felt I was missing a few bits and pieces, you know, people whispering, eye-rolling stuff going on,” she tells 7Entertainment.

Sonia is in the “strange” position of immersing herself in the house during evictions, but then stepping away from the set and returning home to her regular life after filming.

“But sometimes I think, ‘What would it be like to have to sleep here and to wake up here?’ Because I haven’t done that,” she says.

Being a housemate appears off the cards for the Gold Logie winner, who jokes that the “bathroom situation would do my head in”.

This format this year is a mash-up of the Big Brother format we know and love, with a focus on dating and forming relationships in the house.

Sonia shares that while some housemates fall in love quickly, others “fall out of love,” which is interesting to watch when everyone lives in such close proximity throughout the game.

In 2023 it seems there is more demand than ever to watch people fall in love on TV, with an array of dating shows vying for eyeballs.

“What makes Big Brother different is that only one person can win Big Brother so at some point a housemate must know that you are going to have to betray the person that you are possibly having a relationship with,” Sonia says.

This season will include a heap of new surprises, including a King and Queen Suite, where two lovebirds can get up close and personal and away from the rest of the housemates.

That means the return of the iconic Big Brother Uncut, showcasing the juiciest, sexiest and funniest unseen moments of the week that were too hot for prime-time TV.

“There’s extra content there that you know it’s a little bit more mature in its nature and people who love the show can watch it Monday through Thursday and then stay on board and watch Big Brother Uncut on Thursday nights at 8.30pm,” Sonia says.

As part of the new format, all 15 contestants are “sexy singles” and looking for love.

“On that first day of filming when everyone arrived, there was a lot more energy and everyone was super pumped — and it was raining!” Sonia says.

“I remember thinking, ‘We’re all going to look terrible at the end of this,’ and one of us did; that was me,” she laughs.

“They just looked hot!

“It’s like a big party for them initially when they get into the house.”

Fans can expect some “outrageous moments” to be in-store as “emotions run high”.

“There are some explosive moments and some really tense moments with some of the housemates,” she teases.

“A little bit of jealousy, potentially a little bit of insecurity.”

Without further ado, let’s meet the Big Brother class of 2023.
